The day presented itself with amazing weather. By the time everyone had got to the start line and had completed there various warm ups.
The race started before anyone could get into position or close to the start line. While the race started I was under the water and when I popped up I had found my self on James Seear’s feet and had a free ride until the last two buoys when where I got tangled up.
On the run through transition I went from 5th to the lead and held it for a short while until jimmy decided he wanted it more at the time. Throughout the bike leg the lead changed a few times and myself and Jimmy made a few attacks trying to rattle Ryan Fisher and Bryce Mcmaster.
Coming off the bike my legs were still feeling quit good and I hit the run with some speed. The pace was rather fast for the first 1km with attacks coming from myself, Jimmy and Ryan. Ryan made to back to back attacks over the short sharp hill and left myself, Jimmy and Bryce in the wake. During the next couple of kilometres I started struggling and fighting with my body to go faster. I was passed by Bryce and Jimmy. Once I started getting my legs back I started reel the others back in but by that time it was a little to late with everyone trying to hit top gear and attacking each other in the final kilometres.
Once the race was completed I knew I had given everything I had on the day and that I had given my title the best defence I had.
Many thanks to the Guys at CYC’d for preparing the equal fastest bike of the day. Also to Endura for all my nutrition needs. Scody for being part of an awesome event and for their ever improving suit technology.
For all of my fans thank you for cheering and supporting myself through the entire race.
